AcanChia started the second major project called "Covid 19". With this and the ongoing cocoa project which are part of the corporate social responsibility, AcanChia helps the inhabitants of the Juan Pablo II settlement to get a regular income through the sale of cocoa beans. Furthermore the goal is that the people stay healthy and are able to have a life in conditions worth living in. The project was able to be implemented thanks to the financial support of the Corona immediate program of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMWI) in cooperation with DEG, the Peruvian company Healthy Superfoods and the residents of Juan Pablo II.
The Covid-19 pandemic clearly and firmly shows that the virus does not end at national or continental borders. It is a global problem. The infirmary is specifically intended to help preventive protection against the infection of covid and to promote the health of the residents of Juan Pablo II and the surrounding areas in general.

Families in this area mostly live in self-built huts and there are only a few paved roads. The Satipo region is very remote and can only be reached via unpaved roads. In addition to the construction of the infirmary, the transportation of the equipment was ensured, which was a great challenge due to the remoteness of the area and the poor infrastructure.
With the help of many supporters, the construction of the infirmary was finished after only 10 months. Thanks to the active and direct cooperation of the residents of Juan Pablo II. The project could be implemented quickly under difficult circumstances. After completion, the infirmary was handed over to the Ministry of Health (Minsa). Special thanks go to the owner and employees of Healthy Superfoods who managed the project as coordinators on site and made it a success.

We look forward to continued the good cooperation with the small cocoa farmers of Juan Pablo II and hope that despite the pandemic the cooperation and trade with the farmer can continue.
