Chia Oil – The vegetable source of Omega-3

Chia oil is directly extracted from Chia seeds via smooth cold pressing. The oil that is obtained has a yellow-brownish color and a nutty smell. Chia oil doesn’t have a strong taste. Because of the high amount of antioxidants in chia seeds, Chia oil has a comparably long shelf life. Chia oil is a high value food which can be blended as admixture up to 10% to other oils. But also in other areas like cosmetics or in the production of varnish and paint, Chia oil is broadly used.

Therefore Chia oil is perfectly suited to enhance the value of food and is an excellent vegetable source for omega-3 fatty acids.

Yacon – Power of Minerals

The Yacon plant (Smallanthus sonchifolius) is native of the Andes and is cultivated all over South America. The plant forms big edible lumps with a high content of water and healthy nutrients. Yacon plants grown in Germany at a warm sunny climate reach a height of about 2 meters. In subtropical regions the plant can reach a height of up to 3 meters. The taste of Yacon roots is –because of the high sugar content- enjoyable sweet and can be compared to melon, pear or nashi-fruit.

The outstanding attribute of Yacon is the unit way of sugar storage. In Yacon, carbohydrates are not stored as starch but prevalently as inulin or fructooligosaccharides. These sugars cannot be digested in the human small intestine and migrate to the large intestine as fibers. Because of that, Yacon roots have probiotic properties and do not lead to an excessive rise of the blood sugar levels. Therefore Yacon is perfectly suited for people that suffer from diabetic disease. Consumption of Yacon within an inulin containing diet can help lose weight. Inulin that is present in Yacon roots has only few calories. One gram only has two calories.

Beyond that, Yacon roots contain important mineral nutrient such as ion, magnesium and potassium as well as vitamins B1, B2 and C. Due to its healthy and valuable substances, Yacon is called a “Superfood”. Yacon can be bought as dried Yacon slices.

Yacon Syrup

The juice obtained from Yacon roots is used to produce a dark colored syrup. This syrup is a healthy alternative to sugar, honey or maple syrup. Because of its low glycemic index, Yacon syrup does not lead to a strong increase in blood sugar levels.

Due to the high content of fructooligosaccharides of up to 50%, Yacon syrup has probiotic properties and a comparably low amount of calories. Nevertheless, Yacon syrup still contains the beneficial minerals and nutrients from the Yacon roots.

Yacon syrup is used as a sweetener for people that suffer from diabetes or as tasty alternative to commonly used sweeteners. Furthermore, it can be used to support diets in order to lose weight.

Lucuma – Power of Sweetness

The Lucuma tree (Pouteria lucuma) grows in the southern Andes and has already been valued and cultivated by the Incas. Because of that, Lucuma is also known as “gold of the Incas”. The fruit has a sweet taste and is predominantly cultivated in Peru. There, Lucuma is one of the prevalent cultivated plants.

The fruits of Lucuma trees have about the same size as mangoes. They have a green pericarp and yellow-orange pulp. In Europe, Lucuma is primarily available as powder with high nutrient content. Lucuma powder is made out of Lucuma fruits that were dried at low temperature. The fruits are gently powdered to obtain a vegan, raw fruit product.

Because of the sweet taste and the healthy properties, Lucuma is widely popular. In South America the flavor “Lucuma” in many regions, has a higher popularity than flavors like vanilla or chocolate which are predominant in Europe.

Lucuma is perfectly suited to naturally replace artificial sweeteners or refined sugar. Due to the low glycemic index of Lucuma it is ideal for people who suffer from diabetes.

Lucuma is a great source for vitamins like vitamin A, B1, B2 or B3. Furthermore Lucuma has a high content of mineral nutrients like ion, potassium or calcium.

In addition, Lucuma comprises a high content of niacin which helps in the regulation of cholesterol levels. Beyond that Lucuma powder is rich in fibers which are beneficial for the digestive system in our body.

By using Lucuma powder as a natural sweetener, the body does not receive blank calories but is instead provided with precious nutrients. The excellent taste makes Lucuma powder perfectly suitable for the preparation of delicious foods and beverages.

Cocoa Nibs – Power of Mood

Cocoa plants have already been cultivated in Central America, since 400 BC, by the Mayas and Aztecs. At this time cocoa beans were reserved for the gentry only and were consumed for special occasions as beverage with chili and honey. Today cocoa is primarily used for the production of chocolate in Europe.

The high calorie content of chocolate inhibits the health beneficial effect of ingredients in cocoa beans.

Cocoa Nibs consist of 100% cocoa as they are directly produced out of cocoa beans. In this process the beans are peeled and cut into smaller pieces.

The cultivar “Criollo“which is provided by us, has low content of acid and bitterness. This makes these cocoa beans ideal for direct consumption.

Cocoa beans have the highest content of antioxidants of all known plants. These antioxidants have anti-inflammatory properties and are available in an especially easy absorbable way.

Cocoa Nibs contain big amounts of iron, magnesium and further mineral nutrients. In addition Cocoa Nibs are rich in B-vitamins and vitamin C and E. Furthermore they have a high content of fibers which are beneficial for our digestive system.

In a similar way to dark chocolate, Cocoa Nibs are said to have a positive emotional effect. The reason for this is the content of primarily second messengers (neurotransmissors) like serotonin, dopamin and tryptophan that are contained in the beans.
